This new upper rear control arm replaces the factory stamped control arm reducing wheel hop and increasing traction. The S197 Mustang chassis uses a 3-link rear suspension system with a panhard bar to control the rear end under the vehicle. Under hard loads the factory pieces tend to flex and rubber bushings deflect leading to poor traction and erratic handling. Replacing the factory pieces with stronger well designed items eliminates this flex allowing for better control of the vehicle and improved traction during launches.
This upper control arm is a direct bolt-on replacement and features a QA1 Chrome Moly spherical rod end with Teflon®/Kevlar® self lubricating race. The QA1 spherical bearing rod end operates for a bind free operation when high handling is a concern by letting the suspension articulate correctly. This upper control arm also works excellent as a solid bushing drag race control arm with easy built in adjustment. Quick and easy on-car adjustments can be made when needed with a simple turn of the wrench, there is no need to remove the control arm from the vehicle. Adjustment of the upper control arm allows pinion angle changes for suspension set-up and suspension correction when a vehicle has been lowered.
